Two days ago it was widely reported that Spurs would be following up interest in Sporting Lisbon right back Miguel Lopes but as those rumours have gone cold for now, it’s currently claimed that Tottenham are heading to the same club in order to pick up one of Lopes’ team mates.
Eric Dier is an interesting player: Having been born in Cheltenham his family moved to Portugal when he was aged ten and he immediately began his youth career with Sporting. In 2012, he played his first professional game for the club and despite being some way off the radar, Dier has represented England at all levels from Under 18 to Under 21.
Rumours linking the 20 year old centre back with a move to Spurs seem to have originated in the Portuguese press and it’s said that Sporting will want £4m in order to part with their man. As a back up to the main central defensive pairing it’s not the worst shout we’ve seen this summer.
