The press haven’t given up when it comes to linking Tottenham with a new striker even though it seems certain that the club will go into the new campaign with Roberto Soldado, Emmanuel Adebayor and Harry Kane as the three main centre forwards.

The name of Wilfried Bony is still being mentioned in some quarters but the new face doing the rounds today is that of 18 year old Monaco striker Anthony Martial. Predictably described by some as the new Thierry Henry, there’s little in the player’s stats to justify that tag just yet although to be fair, he hasn’t had too many chances in a star studded Ligue 1 side.

Martial has scored twice in 14 matches for Monaco but it’s thought that Spurs have seen enough to have tabled a £15.8m bid and with the player’s opportunities limited at the Stade Louis II, it’s felt that he may be happy enough to move on.
