All through the week, attention has been focussed on Nacer Chadli and Hugo Lloris who had been struggling with injuries during the international break but when Spurs’ head coach Mauricio Pochettino announced his team news, two further names were added on to the doubtful list.
Emmanuel Adebayor and Nabil Bentaleb both missed training and to date, there’s no word on either man’s availability.
“We have another day to train and after that we will choose the squad for City,” said the coach on Wednesday.
“Kyle Naughton is getting better and perhaps he will have the possibililty to be in the squad for the next game, he added.
“Kyle Walker is still recovering from his injury but he’s doing okay, he’s started to run and that’s good news. He improves every day but it’s important not to rush him because most the important thing is a full recovery after surgery.”
Assuming Nacer and Hugo are fit, there shouldn’t be too many changes from the side that beat Southampton last time out. Eric Dier will presumably come in for Naughton while there will be a real question if Ade is unfit.
Pochettino doesn’t seem a huge fan of Roberto Soldado so Harry Kane could be first cover for the Togolese. Elsewhere, the likes of Stambouli, Fazio and Chiriches will hope to press but we don’t expect too many surprises.
Here’s our prediction but what’s yours?
