After the striker’s man of the match performance in his team’s 2-1 home win over Everton on Sunday, 21-year-old Harry Kane is now arguably Tottenham’s first choice striker ahead of Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor, with his high energy and tireless work ethic was apparent once again.

Playing a part in both goals, it was Kane’s run and shot which led to Eriksen’s equaliser before his high-pressing after dispossessing Gareth Barry, led to strike partner Roberto Soldado’s strike, his first since March.

It appears that Kane has finally cemented one of the two attacking spots at the expense of Emmanuel Adebayor. The guys at Opta powered fantasy football game www.oulala.com have taken a deeper look into the three strikers on a per-minute basis and the stats speak for themselves and echo the deserved praise that Kane has recently received.

Premier-League-6

Judging by the figures, Adebayor will be hoping that his home nation Togo had qualified for January’s African Cup of Nations. It would have served as a nice little place to hide for the out of form striker and allow him to temporarily get away from the Tottenham fans that he had recently criticised.

Looking at the stats it is the Togolese striker that deserves a hefty serving of criticism. Adebayor has played twice the amount of Kane and Soldado have, yet has failed to triumph in any of the given criteria.

Soldado has taken the creativity badge after displaying superior shot assists and chances created figures than both Adebayor and Kane. However it is Kane that takes all of the other plaudits including goals scored and shots on targets. In completing more successful tackles, provoking more fouls and winning a higher percentage of head to head duels, the stats have emphasised Kane’s high work rate that has won him his recent rave reviews.

In August Kane was on the fringes of the first team but nobody truly believed in just four months that he would become the number one striker at White Hart Lane. Just how long will it be until we see him in an England shirt? The national team is certainly screaming out for a player with the attitude that Harry Kane possesses.

  1. harry kane is the new darling of Spurs! How did lamela get a game with him last night? Bobby must have felt distraught. I did seem a very very strange decision not to start him especially as he/we have waited 8 months for a PL goal. So of course we wait until he scores before we drop him. UNBELIEVABLE!

  2. I agree with the comments. I couldn’t believe that Soldado was dropped. When you have a winning team that played great football, why change it?
It was even more ridiculous to replace Soldado with Lamela who has been a liability in the premier league.

  3. Why does everybody keep harping on about the pros and cons of Spurs midfield and attacking players Its the defence that needs sorting out. I think vertongen is a very overrated player. Spurs first priority should be to buy 2 or 3 top quality defenders.

    • Agree. He was brushed aside too easily by Drogba and Remy for the 2nd & 3rd goals. Midfield is a worry too, we’re not creating any chances. Lamella is a show pony and doesn’t seem suited to this league, eriksen drifts in and out of games, better than Lamella but needs more consistency
