After a distinctly average 70 minutes at White Hart Lane, Tottenham finally broke through from the spot with 16 minutes to go. Andros Townsend, who has seemingly become Spurs’ first choice spot-kick taker after his goal against Chelsea, smashed the ball low to the goalkeeper’s left.

Prior to the opener, the match had been relatively poor with both sides getting in good positions without creating any real chances.

  1. We need class strikers, how many times do we have to say it. We couldn’t even score in open play at home to a league one side. If Daniel Levy and Joe Lewis do not address this problem they need to go, both of them.

  2. Remind me again did we beat chelski a few weeks ago . How can a team play that good against one of the better teams in europe then play like that . Hope all the players will donate a weeks wage to a charity as way of saying sorry to the fans . That was pants . I know they won but Sheffield will fancy their chances in the second game .

  3. we have needed a striker for 2 +yrs ,,, and we are still looking ….thank goodness there are contracts expiring …NOT TO BE RENEWED
