Tottenham failed to find the net for a second game in succession, losing 1-0 to Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa at White Hart Lane.
Both teams were poor, but Villa snatched victory thanks to a Christian Benteke header.
Spurs were particuarly below-par. Danny Rose impressed at left-back, Harry Kane toiled away up front, but goal scoring chances were hard to come by.
Social media reacted as expected; with disappointment and a realisation of the season trickling to a close. Here’s the best of Twitter…
Spurs are doing what Spurs do best. After over 30 year of it i'm no longer surprised. History always repeats itself at Tottenham

There are absolutely no positives to take from this game.

Unfollowing any PochOut people. Knee jerk is off the scale. Like I said last week, I'll only worry if he's not backed this summer.

We’re actually going to lose to Tim Sherwood. This is a thing that is going to happen.

This result puts us CLEARLY in the driving seat in the race for seventh place. #NoEuropaLeague.

If only we had started the game with the same intensity that we've finished it.
That's the most frustrating thing.

#thfc FT, 1-0 to Villa, who had more at stake and played like it. Spurs draw a blank for the second game in a row. Roll on the summer.

Horrible performance from players and manager again. Burnt out, low in confidence, players making mistakes all over the pitch.

Some of Pochettino's decisions lately have been baffling, but I'm not going to pass judgement until post-Jan transfer window next season.

A meeting was held with club and squad during international break discussing the opportunity to play Euro League next season and both management and players aired their disapproval of the completion. Vertongan has gone on strike, as has Loris and Walker with their intention to move on this summer. Which has left the opportunity for the rest of the bench warmers to showcase their individual skills in the pursuit of offers from other clubs. Leaves the want of winning points secondary, especially if it means playing Euro League next year. Warm up weekends for the rest of the season I’m afraid but in typical Spurs fashion We can only hope for a better season next season. COYS
Love it, what a great win for the Villa boys.
You can stick your 59% win ratio’s and Gilet’s where the sun don’t shine.
Thats your season over and we’ve still got an FA Cup semi-final to look forward to.
TIM SHERWOOD’S CLARET AND BLUE ARMY!!!!!!!
Spurs season was over after the Capital One Cup defeat! Like it is every year!
54 Years No title
24 years No FA Cup.
