In what promises to be a bizarre match in front of a half-empty stadium, Spurs face Newcastle tomorrow with both sides needing to get back to winning ways.

Tottenham could see the return of a trio of injured players. Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker all face late fitness tests and all will walk back into the side if available.

Lloris was the only one of the three to actually be playing well before succumbing to injury, but the alternatives are worse and highlight what a slim squad Mauricio Pochettino has to play with.

This is also the case in midfield. Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason look wore out but Pochettino clearly does not rate anyone else. Further forward, only Erik Lamela challenges Andros Townsend, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli.

  1. Throw out a back up 11. We’ve missed the top 4 so 8th or below is preferable to a half heated Europa campaign that proves more a hindrance than anything else.
    Harry and Bobby linked well early in the season and people seem to need proof Dross is ineffective wherever he plays, so let’s stick him on the left to prove the point.

  4. No Dave it’s not just you. I seem to be reading this sort of thing all the time, this ready to accept and not to complain at failure attitude of some so called fans or worse still those people (I cant call them fans) who want our mighty spurs to loose a game, any game. I can understand if levy wants certain players out there, to maybe increase their transfer value, you know the shop window thing I don’t agree with it but I understand the need. If mopo wants to “blood” a youngster or two to give them some experience before next season, I think that’s ok but for a fan to want to play people so they can look bad or play a whole team so that we can loose is criminal. maybe he should take a moment or two, sit somewhere quiet and revaluate his morale code and his position within the spurs fanbase. A quick read of some of the quotes by the god Billy Nick should do the trick.
    The “ropey” league thing (which I think should be a true knockout competition) is one that always surprises me, loosing on the Sunday after the Thursday is a mental thing not a physical one as we put out an almost completely different side for both games and I’m 100% sure the aforementioned Billy Nick would turn in his grave at the mention of a fan not wanting European football, whatever the competition. A club like Tottenham should always be in Europe.

I would not start Bentaleb in any team the decline in our form started when this overated lightweight came back from Afcon, Stambouli was putting in some good performances and seemed to be coming to grips with the pace of the premier. Alongside Mason they drove forward broke up attacks screening the defence well. Bentaleb does none of these Mason is doing all the closing down driving forward while Bentaleb hangs back for the back pass and lays they ball off sideways back at times blindly. After the Utd game Bentaleb should be no where near the squad leaving him in and Dembele not getting a game is baffling. Anyone who thinks this Prodigy is any good needs to stop reading fantasy columns lumns.

I HAVE BEEN CALLING FOR MASON AND BENTALEB TO BE DROPPED SINCE THEY GOT INTO THE FIRST TEAM THEY SIMPLY ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH CHALDI IS VERY WEAK HOT AND VERY ICE COLD MOST OF A MATCH , AND TOWNSEND IS A HEADLESS CHICKEN NEVER KNOWING WHICH WAY TO GO NO END PRODUCT , I KNOW FOR CERTAIN THESE FOUR PLAYERS TO MP IS HIS SO CALLED BEST OPTION BUT AT LEAST SEE THE FULL PICTURE WHEN IN TRAINING THEY HAVE NO ONE TO CHALLENGE AND THUS MAKING THEM TOP TOP PLAYERS , STAMBOULI NEVER GETS A LOOK IN THE GUY NEVER LETS YOU DOWN AT LEAST TRY OTHER PLAYERS WHO YOU WOULD NEVER THINK OF PLAYING IN THOSE POSITIONS , DEMBELE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO GET , PAULHINO IS A POOR PREMIERSHIP PLAYER SUITED FOR 1ST OR 2ND DIVISION , SO THROW A COUPLE OF STRANGERS INTO THE FRAY IT WON`T MATTER NOW FOURTH SPOT IS GONE AS USUAL AND THE EUROPE CUP WILL BE HARD GOING .

  8. vorm, yedlin dier fazio(verts injured) davies, chadli dembele stambouli lamela, kane soldado. i would play a 4 4 2, the game has become so boring with the 4 2 3 1 formations, i would like to see the team play with, which pulls defenders wide and creates space for strikers to attack.

    I’d go 3 at the back Stambouli sitting in front that gives rose and walker freedom to get forward and give us width and all are so called winger I.e. TOWNSEND CHADLI AND LAMELA are all shit anyway. DEMBELE can drop in and help Stambouli when we don’t have the ball this system gives Eriksen freedom to get on the ball and influence the game put saldado up top top give Harry Kane a bit of help think this could work
