Tottenham Hotspur finished the season with a 1-0 over Everton at Goodison Park, and in doing so sealed a fifth place finish in the Premier League.
That means Spurs automatically qualify for the group stages of next season’s Europa League campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side ended the season six points behind fourth placed Manchester United and two points above Liverpool, who finished sixth.
Eric Dier’s superb cross was met by Harry Kane in the 24th minute to give Tottenham all three points. It was Kane’s 31st goal of a quite brilliant season for the striker.
Spurs’ first win at Goodison Park since 2007 proved a fine way to end the season. Here’s how Twitter reacted to both the victory and the season on the whole.

Considering the average squad he's inherited, finishing fifth and reaching a cup final represents a very good first season for Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur and fifth place meet in an all too familiar end-of-season embrace, like the good old friends that they are #THFC

Shame that the second half petered out, but a good win nonetheless with excellent performances from Vertonghen, Bentaleb and Mason. #COYS

#thfc That's also the first time Spurs have kept two successive clean sheets in the PL since West Ham and QPR in the opening two weeks.

5th with what he inherited is punching above weight IMO. Pleasantly surprised. #COYS

We've finished 5th, above Liverpool. PLEASE DONT ENJOY IT. REPEAT. PLEASE DONT ENJOY IT.

A 5th placed finish with a squad that isn't one the current manager signed. Young players coming through. Harry Kane. The future seems bright
— Steve Heffernan (@SteveHef) May 24, 2015
would settle for 5th every year we are not good enough for champions league dont want to become like arsenal fail in the champions league every single year, got a better chance of winning silverware in the europa.
Pochettino has an inherited squad full of deadwood but the youngest in prem & far less revenue than the top 4 clubs, so what do some of you want/expect?
5th place finish is creditable & hopefully with some squad culling & a few choice additions, we’ll improve on this season over next few yrs!
COYS!
