Spurs have officially announced that they have released Emmanuel Adebayor, having come to a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.
The club worked hard to move on Adebayor over the summer, only for his eccentric behaviour to scupper potential deals with Aston Villa and West Ham.
Mauricio Pochettino was not willing to let this development soften his stance on the striker, despite the fact that the failure to sign Saido Berahino has left the team short of strikers. Pochettino decided to exclude Adebayor from both his Premier League and Europa League squads, leaving little point in keeping the Togo international at the club.
Most fans seem happy to finally see him go. Here’s how they reacted on Twitter.
We can confirm that we've reached a mutual agreement with @E_Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the Club.

Adebayor, on his day, is one of the best strikers to grace the Premier League but, in large part due to off field issues, inconsistent.

Whatever your thoughts on @E_Adebayor 41 goals in 106 games for Tottenham isn't a bad return. Especially how bland the football was for 2yrs

Adebayor could be unplayable at times, the problem was it was only when it suited him, which wasn't often enough

Hoping Adebayor finds a club he feels is a suitable home for his talent. I'd recommend Platinum Lace.

Most of you say you dislike Adebayor because he steals a living. Is it his decision not to play? Is it his fault he has huge family issues?
