In an incredibly frustrating night at White Hart Lane, Leicester grabbed a late winner to go joint-top of the Premier League, leaving Tottenham in fourth.
Spurs had the best of the chances from the early stages. Erik Lamela and Harry Kane were perhaps guilty of missing the hosts’ best opportunities, but in fairness, Mauricio Pochettino’s side did everything but score.
Perhaps it can be put down to bad luck, perhaps Tottenham need more striking options. Regardless, Robert Huth’s 83rd minute winner was painful viewing.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the result and performance.
Such a soft goal to concede after such a gruelling match. Very disappointing but this is just what Leicester do. Ranieri is brilliant.

FT. The reason that's so poor is the number of chances – you can't expect to miss that many any survive. 3rd PL defeat of the season.

2nd league game in a row Pochettino takes off Eriksen & things fall apart in attack. It's not a coincide.

3 times we've played Leicester this season and not won one of them. Credit to Leicester but a reality check right there.

Huge opportunity lost. Leicester fast becoming a bit of a bogey team.

A classic case of not taking your chances & being punished for a momentary lapse at the other end. Fair play to Leicester who never gave up.

Tottenham. 20 shots at goal. 16 corners. Nil. But, noooo… no way do they need striking back-up for @HKane. #negligent #dimwits

having all the better stats mean nothing unless you score. fair play to lesicester they did the one stat thats important. roll on sat #COYS

We've been very good all season, not always had enough of an edge. Defending cost us tonight. Cheap.

#THFC only have themselves to blame. Alright start, should've converted pressure. Wasted several other decent chances and let in a soft one.

How many opportunities can we afford to keep missing? So,so disappointing.

Just leaving the lane. We are utterly toothless if Harry doesn't play well. It's like AVB all over again. Desperately need another finisher.
— Tom Edwards (@tomedwards) January 13, 2016
If Spurs finish below this Utd team this season I will give up on football. Had the chances tonight, didn't take them. Time for another run.
— Neil Hawkins (@neilhawkins87) January 13, 2016
Alright Maurcio you've made your point. Daniel will buy you another striker now.
— Charlie Parrish (@charlieparrish) January 13, 2016
Cue anger aimed at Levy now. Wasn't that long ago everything was rosy in garden. As shit as it feels right now we still work in progress
— Vass Koni (@vkon1) January 13, 2016
Much to be positive about this season, but we really need some options up top and be more ruthless with chances
— Richard Cracknell (@MrCracknell) January 13, 2016
We are predictable up front. Need to buy a different type of striker..more disruptive and challenging. We always seem to drop the ball when well placed. Sunderland win essential.
Levy’s failures in the transfer market in not getting at least 1 other striker before the season started was always going to cost us and here we are! how many other premiership teams have only got one f uckin striker, it’s a joke the guy has always left us short season after season, we cannot just keep relying on Kane! sort it out Levy get 2 strikers and a midfielder that can pass the ball forward instead of backwards or to the side!
Potch please put some players on the posts for corner. Setpeices against us.
We are not aggressive in attack too bad 4 our team though we play well but lose 3 good points
Ill say it again, our manager is tactically hopeless.
Levy and him should go. No extra fwrd 13 days into the window—absolutely hopeless!!
How many corners did we get and yet not able to convert. How many soft undefended goals against us on corners against? Two in two games!!!!!. This is a shocking part if our game, why is that..defending set pieces and corners has always been a mighty problem..why do we look so exposed ? Why do other teams look so good against us with set plays ????
Sort that out and just maybe we’ll get in top four.
Don’t see a new striker coming..no point ,too risky …give young Josh the strikers role make Harry the number 10… Simole
Spot on, Rancid. I’ve been saying this for many seasons now and it has not improved much under Poch. I’ve queried whether we have a defence coach because we look vulnerable every time the opposition have a set-piece around our box, including corners. As you say, if we can sort this element of our play out, we will be a far better team. Eriksen’s dead ball kicks have been very poor of late too, often failing to clear the first defender.
Last night we were straight out of the blocks and looking sharp but, as with a number of games this season, we failed to take advantage and let the opposition back into the game. Still vey much a work in progress for Poch.
need another striker, harry got a yellow card could of been red, passing around edge of six yard box great fun, defenders so rude wont get out of way let spurs shoot.
Come into my parlour said the spider to the fly,and you overconfident, rather arrogant Spurs supporters not to mention players fell for it!!
PS- We were robbed in the cup but you’re welcome to it 🙂
