Crystal Palace somehow overcame a wasteful Tottenham side at White Hart Lane, winning 1-0 and reaching the quarter-final of the FA Cup in the process.
Martin Kelly’s first half goal was enough to win it for the visitors. Spurs were desperately unlucky not to equalise, creating multiple chances and hitting both posts.
Twitter was reasonably calm after the game. Many called out individuals such as Kyle Walker and Nabil Bentaleb for poor performances. But most Tottenham fans were sensible enough to look at the bigger picture.
Here’s the best of the post match tweets.
Bentaleb very disappointing today after being given the opportunity to show why he deserves to be in the squad.

does it still count as a treble if you include the aia peace cup
— Billie (@Billie_T) February 21, 2016
That's one trophy we don't have to worry about. It's history. Still a Double to chase, Premier League and Europa Cup. Keep dreaming. #COYS

Very disappointing. No need to go OTT, onto the next one

Gutted. But these things happen… Onwards…
— Tim (@CookPassTim) February 21, 2016
Fair play to Palace, that was a textbook daylight robbery.

Never happy to lose but we have irons in other fires. Important we react in the manner we have to every other defeat this season.
— Tom (@Tomfoins87) February 21, 2016
On another day we could've won had we been more clinical & luck was a bit more on our side. Created the chances, just not efficient enough.
— Spurs In The Blood (@SpursInTheBlood) February 21, 2016
well thats that, no point getting to upset about it and look forwards to the next game. roll on Thursday night #COYS
— Mark Futter (@TheBigMan_N17) February 21, 2016
#THFC did enough to win that game four or five times over. Disappointing goal to concede, uncharacteristically half-baked passage of play.
— Raj Bains (@BainsXIII) February 21, 2016
Meh, those first half missed chances cost us. Palace came to contain. This has to be a kick up the arse for the League now, go for it!

Going out of cup is gutting, going out to a Pardew team is soul destroying! #ThunderTwatOfHighestOrder

Too easy for them tbh. Not a Pochettino team performance
— Richard Cracknell (@MrCracknell) February 21, 2016
It's not the loss. It's the manner of the loss. At home. To a pub team. That said just a bad day at the office. We roar again Thursday #COYS
— Yid Legion (@YidLegion) February 21, 2016
Something had to give, I guess. Shame that we got worse & I'd still love a plan B striker for those games but I can't be mad at Poch's Spurs
— Charlie Parrish (@charlieparrish) February 21, 2016
Still so much to play for. COME ON YOU LILYWHITES!
— The Fighting Cock (@LoveTheShirt) February 21, 2016
Looking back in May, today could mark the beginning of a demise or a worthy pothole on the road to something special. #COYS

Also showed today how absolutely vital Dier is to our system & style as a DM
— Bateseyboy (@Bateseyboy) February 21, 2016
A real pity. But I'm calling that a blip. We had 20 shots, hit both posts, one of their players handled on the line. Played some good stuff.
— Chris Miller (@WindyCOYS) February 21, 2016
Best chance we will get in a long time to win the league.. Gotta all believe and push on now – put this behind us. #COYS
— James Forster THFC (@TheJamesForster) February 21, 2016
On another day… But it wasn't. Palace grew in confidence as game wore on and nullified a Spurs team not quite clicking, for all the stats
— Adam Powley (@adampowley) February 21, 2016
At selhurst park palace were unlucky when they hit the crossbar twice in that play before Alli scored
Works both ways, unlucky. We move on
— Shaun (@ShaunBiggs1) February 21, 2016
Palace the better team. We had no tempo or fluidity to our play weren't clinical or enterprising enough in final 3rd.
— Kenny Palmer (@KennyPalmer) February 21, 2016
Heung Min Son was good also. Showed some great glimpses but needs to learn to be less selfish and release the ball quicker also #COYS
— Harry Charalambous (@PrimeSpur1992) February 21, 2016
I'm fucking gutted we haven't progressed in this cup but it's not as if we're having a shit season is it? Fuck me, some of you mugs.
— Tottenham Tobe (@TottenhamTobe) February 21, 2016
Imagine singling out one player to blame for the defeat. We win as a team, we lose as a team.
— Connor Anderson (@C_Anderson1998) February 21, 2016
We must be more clinical and close down teams and kill off games. We now must be focused and determined on the remaining two leagues. We have got to be ruthless. We must pick ourselves up and do better than today. There must be self-belief and confidence -NOT ARROGANCE. we must play for 100 minutes and take charge of games.
The manager MUST BLAST THE TEAM FOR SUCH A POOR PERFORMANCE.
That was a clear example of how we need 1 or 2 extra strikers to come on, or start.
To try and win 3 competitions with only one proper striker in the squad means that Spurs cannot change tactics or different types of play in that position.
