Reports claim that Spurs sent scouts to watch the Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani at the weekend.
Slimani was on the losing side as Sporting lost 1-0 to arch rivals Benfica, but with 18 goals in 22 league games this season the Algerian international is surely a player who will be continued to be monitored.
The 27-year old’s successful campaign has taken his tally for Sporting to 48 goals in 97 appearances. He’s equally deadly at international level with 20 goals in 41 caps for Algeria, including two at the 2014 World Cuop.
Slimani has a buyout clause of £23m which will likely have to be triggered in order to sign a player with four years remaining on his contract. The likes of Manchester United, Leicester and Everton have also been linked with a move for the player in recent months.
At 6ft 1″ tall, the powerfully built forward certainly looks a natural fit for the Premier League thanks to his heading ability, strength on the ball and quick feet. Watch him in action below.
Looks arf decent, good in the air, good link play but just can’t say he’s a must buy. Prefer lnsigne tbh . COYS
