If Mauricio Pochettino’s team selection against Borussia Dortmund proved controversial, the side against Aston Villa should conform to expectations.

Barring injuries we should see a full-strength Spurs team. That means Hugo Lloris in goal, with a back four of Kyle Walker, Toby Alderweireld, Kevin Wimmer and Ben Davies in the back four.

In midfield we should see Eric Dier alongside Mousa Dembele, unless Dier is injured, in which case Ryan Mason should deputise.

Further forward, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli should operate in the positions behind Harry Kane.

Here’s our Spurs team to face Aston Villa. What’s yours?

  1. I’d throw Rose into left flank and have a Davies/Rose combination as a viable alternative for the run-in. We need the odd curve ball, and while Davies is possibly the better defender, Rose looks raring to go further up field. I’m not saying this is an Ekotto/Bale situation …but why not see how it works? Kane needs support from the flanks, as does our tired midfield generally, so a bit of genuine and pacy width (instead of the more static Chadli, an out-of-position Eriksen and Lamela/Son who aren’t wing savvy) could make Rose a revelation (maybe not to the Bale extent, but nevertheless a viable choice).

  2. Rose is defenitly first choice would play Trippier on the other flank need maximum crosses against Villa, two center backs as usual Dier and Dembele , Lamela on the right Erickson center and Deli Ali on the left i think he is much more effective in this role and generally scores and assist from that position Kane up top although i would have liked for him to play against Dortmund n maybe use Son or Chadli up top gainst Villa
