Reports from France claim that Spurs are interested in signing Lassana Diarra from Marseille.
L’Equipe believe that Tottenham are impressed with Diarra’s form for Marseille this season, which has seen him recalled to the French squad at the age of 31.
Diarra has been linked to a move to Spurs many times over the years, in a career that has seen the defensive midfielder play for Arsenal, Chelsea and Portsmouth in the Premier League.
If it seems unlikely that the club would sign Diarra at such an advanced age, the fact that he is available on a free transfer goes some way to giving these rumours plausibility. Diarra signed a four-year contract at Marseille last summer, but it included a clause giving him the option to walk away for nothing at the end of the first season.
Manchester United have also been linked with the former Real Madrid player and Diarra certainly seems a cost-effective solution for any club searching for a midfield anchorman.
With Tottenham needing cover for Eric Dier, Diarra could represent the perfect mix of experience, talent and value.
