AZ Alkmaar have confirmed that they have turned down a bid from Spurs for Vincent Janssen.

Tottenham bid £11.31m for the Dutch striker but his club are holding out for £16.15.

The AZ technical director Max Huiberts said: “The difference between the offer and the price we demand was too big.

“I’ve read a lot of speculation and been telephoned by other clubs but no-one else has made any concrete offer.”

Despite the bid falling short of AZ’s valuation, terms are said to have been agreed with the player.

With the difference between the offer and asking price not too far apart, this should perhaps be seen as positive news rather than a disappointment.

With AZ speaking out – no doubt to invite other offers from interested parties- Spurs might need to make a second bid quickly if they’re going to lands the 22-year old Netherlands international.

  2. I’m really unsure about this guy I mean luuk de jong finished top scorer in d dutch league a few years ago and finished third top scorer last season. And he was utterly useless in the prem with Newcastle

  3. @Ian. Watch Janssen on Youtube, you may change your mind. He looks a class act to me and not over-priced like Michy, and better than Embolo to my mind who has a long way to go yet.

    • The man is total class poch has personally scouted him and we’ll lose him to a rival if were not careful.just get it don leavy ffs…..
