For some time now we’ve followed the Marcus Edwards contract saga and it looks as if there’s finally some good news for Spurs fans.

The 17-year old had been stalling on signing a professional contract with the club and would have been free to leave next summer. Thankfully the very reliable Twitter account @TottenhamAcademy has reported that Edwards has put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

The rumour that the offer promised Edwards some game time is a measure of just how highly-rated the youngster is by the club and it will be interesting to see how he develops from here. Watch him in action below.

  1. Give him League cup and FA cup games game time, lets see if he can do it with the big boys, if he’s good enough he’s old enough.

  2. I said a while ago that we could end up seeing a Pogba type situation with this kid if we don’t play it smart. Giving him the promise of game time could prove a very smart move and putting him in amongst the first team shows him how close he is. If we lost this kid there’d be whole host of teams fighting for his signature. Barca scouted him and a report called him “a jewel in Europes crown”.

  3. For many of the past decades, top players have been regulars for their clubs and in some cases countries at the age of 17 or 18 years. If Edwards turns out to be one of these top players(and I am not saying here that he will), we will soon and only find out if we through him in at the deep end now.Time will of course tell us very soon.If you are good enough you are old enough.
