Reports over the weekend have linked Celtic with a move for Michel Vorm.
The new Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers knows Vorm from their time together at Swansea and could want the Dutch keeper to provide competition for his current number one, Craig Gordon.
With Tottenham known to be interested in the Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez, there is a possibility that Vorm could be available. At 32-years old, Vorm needs to leave the club soon if he harbours any realistic notions of playing regular football, having failed to fully convince at White Hart Lane.
Ill-suited to the sweeper-keeper style that Hugo Lloris performs so well, Vorm played just seven games last season, compared to 14 appearances in Mauricio Pochettino’s first season in charge.
If Spurs can land Pau, that would surely see Vorm’s opportunities diminish further. The Spanish U21 international is unlikely to want to move to England unless he gets some guarantee of semi-regular first-team football.
This could be one that goes late into the window. The club are clearly trying to upgrade in the goalkeeper position, but until someone is signed, Vorm remains a crucial member of the squad.
This is interesting as how can Celtic pay the wages of Vorm? Vorm was a good goalie at Swansea but never got a run at Spurs. He should of when it came to the cup games and also certain league games. This would of tested Lloris when he was not even playing well. We need a good solid number two to challenge Lloris. What about that Sunderland young goalie?
Don’t worry about us paying wages. We are in good shape, pay our players, pay for transfers, and, pay our taxes! We don’t use EBTs, we are honest and transparent. We produce financial records as required! Boy, we play by the rules! Now if only that old extinct club had done this too they may still exist!
