The Mirror claims that Spurs are one of four Premier League clubs interested in signing the Charlton forward Ademola Lookman.
Just two years ago Lookman was playing for the youth football club Waterloo FC, before Charlton plucked him from obscurity. His rise through the ranks was swift, making his first-team debut for the then Championship outfit in November 2015.
Though Charlton were relegated last season, it was a successful debut campaign for Lookman. The 18-year old played 25 games and scored five, goals attracting the attention of several Premier League clubs.
Tottenham are said to be ready to fight it out with Arsenal, Liverpool and Southampton for the England U19 international. With Charlton now in the third-tier of English football, they have little hope of holding on to Lookman, whose climb from non-league to the Premier League looks likely to be even quicker than that of Jamie Vardy.
Lookman is rated at £2m and certainly looks like the type of young English talent that Spurs are likely to move for. Watch him in action below.
As an Addick fan he was one of the stand out players last year.
Like many I would say he is an excellent prospect but is not anywhere near ready for this step up- but if we give him away at £2m he could be a ball boy at the Lane rather than just get splinters!
I think Charlton, if they can use some common sense for a change, would look for a buy and loan back for the season as part of any deal, benefitting him in his development and getting first team football and maybe, just maybe, helping us back out of the hole we are I!
Why should we take him back on loan and do there work for them
