Victor Wanyama marked his home debut with a late winner to earn Tottenham their first victory of the season against Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane.
It was a stale performance but Spurs were just about the better side over 90 minutes. Vincent Janssen impressed despite missing a good chance to make things easier for the hosts earlier in the second half.
The winner came when Harry Kane rose highest in the box to meet the ball, which fell to Wanyama who nodded home from close range.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the performance and result.

Hard graft that. Clear some not quite at the races. VJ worked hard but should have scored. CE very poor, Vorm clean sheet (whisper that bit)

A gratefully accepted three points, and the Eagles have been landed. A nervy second half but over the 90m #Spurs thoroughly deserved it

Funny game. Still not quite clicking in the final 3rd but that's reminiscent of last season's start. This time a good pt at Evt & win here

A Wanyama header on his home debut @ WHL as it's a late, late show from Spurs, something we've become familiar with under Poch. #COYS#THFC

Instant reactions: Wanyama and Janssen were fantastic. Eriksen and Lamela less so. But this was a win that Spurs deserved. Dominant.

Janssen had an excellent game. Miss was very Soldado-like but I'll let him have one. He will be a big hit at Spurs I think

Janssen was made for the premier league. So excited about how good he could become for Spurs

Impressed with Janssen today despite that woeful miss. Seems to have the lot – strength, creating space & making chances. Goals will come.

Another slow start to the season from Spurs, not up to speed yet but 4 points from 2 shows we're finding a way better than last August #COYS

Extremely relieved we won the game today. We took 5 games to do it last season so it's better. Liverpool next is a big game #COYS

What a performance from Kyle Walker today – sensational! So calm, so assured, so dominant. Won crucial headers all afternoon. #COYS

Only one deserved winner today. Some good performances and great to see them battling away for a winner. On to next week. #coys
