Over the weekend news broke that Schalke have had a £10m bid rejected by Spurs for Nabil Bentaleb, but they seem determined to get their man.

With Tottenham holding out for £15m, reports from France claim that the Bundesliga giants have made a second bid and that Bentaleb is nearing on a move.

Indeed, sources close to Schalke even suggest that Bentaleb could have a medical as soon as tomorrow, though Spurs fans who know how long our transfer deals can stretch on for, may raise an eyebrow at this suggestion.

A fee of £15m for a player with as much potential as Bentaleb has and with plenty of time remaining on his contract, is not excessive. Especially in a summer when the transfer market in England has seen some huge sums paid.

With Bentaleb clearly having no future at the club, let’s hope that Schalke can get the deal over the line, while there’s still time for the money to be reinvested back into the squad.

  1. Strange how a players fortune can change so quickly. A couple of seasons ago he was seen as one of our big hopes going forward. The idea of him not signing a new contract and subsequently being poached by Liverpool or Juve was quite real and had fans worked up. Fast forward 18 months and people are wishing him a speedy exit so we can use the money to bring in someone else. The manager is very strict and wants his players towing the party line 100% but he’s no fool. If Kane did something Poch didn’t agree with, I coukdnt see him being banished to the U21’s until a buyer was found…so that leads me to think that Bentaleb hasn’t given his all in training and probably reacted to dropping down the pecking order in the wrong way. Mason isn’t the greatest player by any stretch of the imagination but his attitude must be spot on because he’s still in and around the first team. All of this leads me to think that the management team have made a good call in looking to offload Bentaleb…..weed out the deadwood and troublemakers.

    • spurs squad were asked who is the hardest worker in training over the summer and everyone said bentaleb……..im guessing he doesnt like not playing and poch doesnt have time for demands when he isnt convinced
