In response to the 2-1 defeat against Monaco in midweek, Mauricio Pochettino has shuffled his Tottenham side in a number of areas as Sunderland visit White Hart Lane.
Jan Vertonghen has been moved to left back, meaning Eric Dier will partner Toby Alderweireld in the middle. Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele start in central midfield.
Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela have both been dropped to the bench. Moussa Sissoko makes his first start for the club. Heung-Min Son also starts.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to all the team news.

What on earth has Wimmer done!?

Vertonghen at left back just gives me flashbacks of the end of the AVB & Sherwood era. Still have nightmares about it sometimes.

Jan LB and Davies on the bench. Weird one but nice to see Dembele back #COYS

Bizarre selection bearing in mind Davies is on bench, line-up will be forgotten about providing Pochettino delivers the win! #COYS#THFC

Wonder how much of this team selection is rotation and how much is frustration/anger from Poch.

Davies 'rested' in a busy period as Rose injured seems to be the word to press.

Apart from Son and Alli our team is absolutely huge. We're going to be a threat from set pieces today. #COYS

lol @ caring at any other aspect of the team other than Dembele starting
— Billie (@Billie_T) September 18, 2016
#thfc No centre-backs on the bench today – Davies can come on and Vertonghen can move back into the centre if needed.

Assumption is @ChrisEriksen8 was dropped by Poch due to form, it's called R-O-T-A-T-I-O-N, gives players a rest… #COYS

Very happy to see Dembele after a long time & Sissoko as well. Big opportunity & probably the right game for Sissoko to prove haters wrong

The right team for a typical ‘dog eat dog’ Premiership game…who got the most yellows?
Sonny gets the plaudits (well deserved) but Walker & Sissoko also, owned the right wing.
In the past we would have ‘f*****’ this up…well done Poch.
Still concerned about our conversion rate however….
