Tottenham struggled to break down a well-drilled Leicester side in their 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane. But how did the hosts perform individually?
Hugo Lloris, 6
I don’t recall Hugo having a save to make bar a simple catch towards the end. Could do little about the Leicester goal.
Kyle Walker, 6
His superb run and cut-back led to Dele Alli narrowly missing a good chance in the first half. Defended well throughout but wasn’t involved in advanced positions as often as he usually likes to be.
Eric Dier, 6
Continued to capably fill in for Toby Alderweireld. Despite being a natural midfielder, however, Dier doesn’t bring the ball out from the back as effectively as Alderweireld, which means Spurs’ attacks start less quickly. Still, Dier is an able deputy and looked reasonably comfortable throughout.
Jan Vertonghen, 7
With the team looking unlikely to bag a winner, Vertonghen took the offensive initiative in the latter stages and was unlucky not score twice. Sturdy at the back, too, again without his usual partner Alderweireld.
Danny Rose, 6
Provided plenty of willing running down the left, and a couple of half-decent deliveries, but tended to overrun the ball whenever he got into the penalty area. You can’t fault Rose for effort, but he could be more composed when needed.
Victor Wanyama, 6
Started brilliantly, shielding the back four to his usual standards throughout the first half. Unfortunately, however, his wayward header immediately after the break sent Jamie Vardy through to set up the leveller: a costly error for the hosts.
Mousa Dembele, 5
Looked confident early on with plenty of neat footwork and forceful shielding of the ball, but really faded and failed to carry the ball forward to the extent the team need him to.
Christian Eriksen, 4
The Dane was woefully sluggish off the ball, failing to press with strength and pulling out of challenges. Got into good positions often on the edge of the box but never really looked like scoring or creating. Eriksen needs a good display soon or his place may be at risk.
Dele Alli, 5
Was involved in plenty of Tottenham attacks in the first half and was unlucky to see a stunning shot crash against the woodwork. Completely anonymous after the break and was eventually substituted.
Son Heung-Min, 5
Seems to have lost his goalscoring momentum since the beginning of the month. Son failed to create anything of value despite a couple of signature mazy runs. Most of them came to nothing, and he was unnecessarily caught offside more than once.
Vincent Janssen, 7
Smashed Spurs ahead from the spot with a goal that, despite being another penalty, is sure to give the Dutchman plenty of confidence going into a crucial run of games. Huffed and puffed to no avail after half time, but more encouraging signs from the slow-starter.

Twelve minutes isn’t quite long enough for a rating, but it must be noted the winger looked very promising, displaying his trademark pace and some much needed creativity. Perhaps should have been introduced earlier.

Played just three minutes plus stoppage time.
What might appear sweet to the eyes is in reality very bitter. Spurs are going nowhere with repeated same old spurs show – once in a blue moon do they produce a classic display – that is it! Otherwise utter Rubbish = possession with sideward, backwards passing and so slow that in the final third they are locked out – because of the style even a child or an idiot can predict their next move… MP moans about ‘should have’.. no time for that in PL. This week we will be dumped out of CL and will be lucky to be in top 10 by season end. Look at the clown Eriksen – does not know how to take a decent corner and his shots have no power its like a 8 year old’s effort. Where are you Yidarmy when you gave a 0 credibility for correct assessment? who is the BS now? Starts with the manager and then pass it to the players with no desire. Alli can go back to championship – just Rose showed passion. Our neighbours will teach us a footballing lesson next Sunday.
For those who will come lurching at me, I suggest you get out of the box and see other games as well to learn what football is about.

What is frustrating it’s the 3rd game with a draw and dropping 6 points , could easily have won all the games , Looks like without Harry Kane we won’t be able to score in OPEN- PLAY , wonder now if they will regret not signing a quality striker , as they bought Sissoko . Few years ago we always had 4 quality strikers who could score goals , having to rely on Kane , as Jansen through no fault of his own , is turning into another Soldado ,
All I’ll say is that yesterday reminded me of watching AVB’s Spurs.
Blaming Janssen is a shallow view and Kane wasn’t doing any better before his injury.
The problem is with the abysmal service supplied by our midfield. Too slow. Too sideways and backwards just as momentum seems to be building.
And too few players ready to risk a shot at goal.
Apart from the Man C and Stoke games, all those failings have been our trademark.
I don’t think in reality anyone can complain, the way I see it, we have played really quite poorly and we still haven’t lost in the league. We turned up against Man City and against Stoke, that’s about it. Don’t get me wrong, we will lose our unbeaten run very soon I imagine with the run of games we have coming up. What I don’t understand is the Vincent Janssen criticism…did no one see him play last season? This guy can play, he looks sharper every game, if he played every week, this guy will score, it’s unfortunate he will instantly get dropped when Kane is back. He is not Soldado at all, Soldado had no confidence whatsoever and couldn’t cope with the league, Janssen can, and he’s only 22, he will improve. Just like Lamela, obviously no one took time to watch him at Roma before he joined us, he was always going to come good, same goes for Capoue which everyone is seeing now at Watford. And people saying Alli is championship standard….it’s beyond me, he is 20 years old and people expect 8, 9, 10/10 every week, it’s mental. We will be up there fighting with the top 4/5, be it for 1st or 4th, with the Champions League this year, I think people demanding the title don’t really understand where we are at, we are progressing all the time, our squad is very young, and Pochettino knows what he’s doing. The only worry for me is depth, we suffered very few injuries last season and I think we may have taken that for granted in the transfer window, we have left ourselves short on numbers the second a first team player gets injured, which is what we are seeing at the moment, not many players on our bench can change a game right now, that’s my only concern.
