Mauricio Pochettino has once again made a number of changes as Tottenham seek to revive their Champions League hopes with victory in Monaco.

Jan Vertonghen is dropped to the bench and replaced by Kevin Wimmer; Vertonghen is presumably being rested for Chelsea on Saturday.

Kieran Tripper also starts, as does Harry Winks who scored his first goal for the club against West Ham at the weekend.

Perhaps the most notable absentee is Christian Eriksen. The Dane hasn’t been in the best of form lately and will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son both start after impressive cameos against West Ham.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to all the team news.

  1. Really not impressed with 4-2-3-1 again… ‘smacks of throwing in the towel’!
I understand the need for rotation at the back but with Eriksen benched I would have continued with Janssen in my preferred 3-5-2.
A lot will depend on the Dembele/Winks axis this evening…on va voir…

  2. Eric dier and wimmer starts together. What a mistake from poch!I’d have never played together.Either toby or verts should have started the game.Hope you could prove my wrong.coys!
