A quiet day for the Spurs skipper; Swansea had one effort on goal. A spectator for the most part.
Kyle Walker, 8
Took a wild kick to the face straight away, but picked himself up and put in one of his best displays of the season. Defended brilliantly and was a constant threat going forward.
Eric Dier, 7
His best game at centre back for a while, probably helped by Swansea’s toothless attack. Comfortable throughout.
Jan Vertonghen, 7
See above: Swansea offered so little going forward it was almost impossible for Dier and Vertonghen not to have good games. Dealt with everything thrown at him with relative ease.
Danny Rose, 7
Didn’t play with quite as much thrust as Walker on the other side, but impressed all the same.
Victor Wanyama, 6
After a great start to his Spurs career, Wanyama had faded a little in recent weeks and that didn’t change here. Played his part in keeping Swansea quiet, but looked a little sloppy at times and missed a sitter.
Mousa Dembele, 7
Begun the game with some trademark majestic touches and dribbles. Ably aided the transition from defence to attack at crucial times. Quietened in the second half.
Christian Eriksen, 8
Everything was going through him early on, but he was actually the least active of Spurs’ attackers in the first half. Seems he was saving himself for the second period, his two goals hopefully another step towards his best form.
Dele Alli, 7
Tottenham started ticking the moment Alli began making runs in behind Harry Kane, the first of which resulted in the penalty for the opener. His final ball could still do with some work, but it’s promising to see Alli make an impact.
Heung-Min Son, 8
Scored a stunning goal on the half volley that secured the points before half time. Despite overrunning the ball a few times, Son was a thorn in Swansea’s side throughout and was key to the victory.
Harry Kane, 8
Celebrated his new contract with two goals: one from the spot, the other a well taken finish after a flowing team move. Held the ball up capably and looked his fittest since before the injury.
