Tom Carroll has signed for Swansea today for a reported £4.5m.
Now 24-years old, it seems like the right time for the diminutive midfielder to leave the club. Carroll has only played three times this season and has little chance of ever becoming a regular at Spurs.
Tottenham fans seem to be in agreement that the move is the right decision, though there has been some difference in opinion as to why Carroll was unable to make it at White Hart Lane.
Here’s how Spurs Twitter reacted to the news.
We have reached agreement with Swansea City for the transfer of @tom_carroll92. Good luck, Tom! pic.twitter.com/KAmug7GLXB

BREAKING: Tom Carroll sold for 90% of what Spurs paid for Dele Alli. #COYS

#thfc Spurs confirm Tom Carroll's exit. Just seemed a bit timid to me, on and off the pitch. Harry Winks appears to be much more confident.

Wish Carroll all the best, however at the end of the day he simply wasn't very good. Surprised we got any money for him #thfc #Coys

Tom Carroll is a very, very talented playmaker who should thrive at just about any club but the one he grew up supporting and playing for.

Tom Carroll never developed the physical side to his game that Poch craves. Best of luck to him @SwanseaOfficial #COYS

I always wish the best for players from our youth & Carroll is no different. Just not Spurs quality at all, but hope he does well @ Swansea.

tom was never up to the standard required at spurs, even though tim Sherwood in particular pushed him in as much as possible,” o we are all saved now here comes tom carroll wonder sub yaaaaa.” Swansea a good move for him ,make bags of money living the dream.
I’m sure with a few injuries or suspensions you’d be crying out for Tom. Why dis the boy who would have given blood sweat and tears for Spurs. Wish him well and don’t turn into a big time Charly club. Your loss our gain.
We’re preparing for mid table Championship standard next season.
GOOD LUCK TOM ONE OF OUR OWN
Tidy player, good awareness, lovely touch, good range of passing, worked his socks off and always looking to get on the ball and create. His impact on games was limited though. Pleasing on the eye but ineffective. Never really broke through and from just watching games I’m guessing poch feels winks is already ahead in terms of development with years to spare. Good luck tom.
