Reports from Italy claim that Federico Fazio is set to make his move to Roma permanent, while Erik Lamela is also said to be keen on a return to the Serie A giants.

Fazio has been a big hit in Rome since joining on loan last summer and has made enough appearances to trigger a clause to make the deal permanent. Roma paid £1m to loan the Argentine and will now pay a further £2.8m for the 29-year old.

More worrying for Spurs fans is the rumours surrounding Lamela. Out with a long-standing hip problem, the Daily Telegraph published a story yesterday which suggested that Lamela is suffering from depression, following the serious injury suffered by his brother and the recent death of his dog.

Now Squawka have claimed that Lamela wants to return to his former club Roma. He’s currently recovering in Roma and is said to be homesick.

Lamela is under contract until 2019 and is one of the few players not to have committed their long-term future to the club. This story could be just a reaction to the recent stories regarding Lamela’s unhappiness, but the reporter Greg Stobart has close links to Tottenham and may well have inside information.

Should Lamela leave Spurs will surely be looking to recoup the £30m that was paid for him.

  1. This is so typically a bunch of bull fabricated by the media. Lamela is not going anywhere, as Spurs want to keep him and Roma do not have 20 million let alone the 30+ he would cost.

  2. I wouldn’t like to see Erik Lamela leave Spurs anytime soon. He is a fine player, lively and inventive, and it has been of concern reading about his injury and also a family problem of some sort. These negative periods happen in many people’s lives, but part of the solution is to look to the future and get busy again. I hope he’s recuperating in Rome and that we see him back at Tottenham again before too long. All there best, Erik!
