After a relatively issue-free campaign last year, Tottenham have suffered a number of injuries to key players this season which has hampered the team’s progress somewhat.
Thankfully, Jan Vertonghen’s return is sure to aid the consistency of the back four. But there is bad news elsewhere.
The club has announced left-back Danny Rose is still a “number of weeks away” from returning after the knee injury he picked up against Sunderland earlier his month.

Ben Davies has been filling in at left-back, but the Welshman lacks the attacking intent of Rose. Spurs have become reliant on the offensive prowess of their wing-backs, particularly if they are to deploy the 3-4-3/3-4-2-1 formation they have been successful with of late.
The 26-year-old will be sorely missed in the coming weeks, but hopefully Davies will be driven to improve by the absence of Rose.
There was also an update on Erik Lamela, who the club say is “making progress” but “no date is yet confirmed for a return to full training.”
