The Nabil Bentaleb transfer saga finally came to an end yesterday when it was confirmed that he will join Schalke on a permanent transfer.
Bentaleb has been a success in the Bundesliga and it’s long been rumoured that he would make the move permanent. It’s thought that Spurs will receive £16m for the midfielder.
Tottenham fans were split over the merits of the deal, with many thinking it was the right move considering the strength the squad has in central midfield, while others believe the sale of such a young, promising player to be a mistake.
Here’s how Spurs supporters reacted to the news on Twitter.
We have reached agreement with Schalke for the permanent transfer of Nabil Bentaleb this summer. We wish Nabil all the best for the future. pic.twitter.com/3mFztc45xQ

2011-2016 great memories …
Thanks to everyone at the club now it's time for me to move on , all the best !— Nabil Bentaleb (@nabilbentaleb42) February 24, 2017
After Winks' breakthrough I'm perfectly happy with the club selling Bentaleb. Dembele, Wanyama, Dier, Winks as our midfield options is fine.

Not disappointed that Bentaleb's move has become permanent. Didn't think he was good enough. Far prefer Winks, better attitude & ability

Bentaleb bang average will not be missed

What's the big deal about Bentaleb? He is a mediocre player that wouldn't get into any of the top 6 PL clubs. Now with a mediocre German FC.

I think the whole Bentaleb saga will prove to be a huge mistake considering his talent and potential but it was bound to end this way.

hope we don't end up looking silly in a couple of years if an elite club buys bentaleb

The funny thing is you couldn't buy Bentaleb for 16m right now if you're a team like spurs. But we just sold him for that ??

Following the sale of Bentaleb, Tottenham have received over £75m in transfer fees for academy products since 2011. pic.twitter.com/N2IwNhU1rP
