Tottenham are far from lacking in depth at full-back. Kyle Walker and Danny Rose have been two of Europe’s best over the last year or so, while Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies have also impressed lately.

But that doesn’t mean the club shouldn’t be targeting others. Danny Rose has missed much of the season with niggling injuries, while Trippier and Davies might fancy moving on if their first team chances don’t improve.

Spurs are now being linked with Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam. The Algerian international is in the midst of a contract dispute with his current employers, and Italian outlet Calciomercato claims Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested in the player.

Another Italian publication, tuttomercatoweb, believes Manchester City are keen to hijack the deal. They think Napoli value Ghoulam at  £11.3 million.

Tottenham will find it difficult to match the other clubs mentioned when it comes to wages. On top of that, it’s doubtful Ghoulam would be happy as back-up for Rose.

The 26-year-old is likely to keep his options open until the end of the season.
