Spanish outlet Marca claims Tottenham are interested in signing Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa, but face competition from Liverpool, Everton and various other clubs abroad.
The report suggests Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia are all keen on securing the 27-year-old’s services. He has a release clause of £26 million, but Las Palmas are willing to accept significantly less.
Roque Mesa is a defensive midfielder — he’d probably find it hard to displace Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele or even Harry Winks on current form in the centre of Spurs’ midfield.
At 27, the Spaniard doesn’t fit Mauricio Pochettino’s criteria of signing young players to develop. I’d be surprised if this one happened unless the player’s valuation drops drastically.
You can watch some of Roque Mesa’s best moments for Las Palmas below.
this is the old old story once again liverpool had the opportunity to sign dele alli for 5 million but offered 4 instead and look now where is alli is playing now this time the same will happen because the players age is 27 and not as young as alli when spurs bought him for 5 million.
