Italian publication calciomercato reports Tottenham are among the clubs in pole position to sign German midfielder Leon Goretzka, but face competition from Arsenal and Juventus.
Goretzka currently plays for Schalke in the Bundesliga, and has struck up an impressive partnership with former Spurs midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is recent months.
The 22-year-old has made three appearances for the senior Germany national side, but wasn’t in the squad for the 1-0 win against England in Dortmund on Wednesday.
It’s not unusual to see Tottenham linked with a promising, young-ish player that Mauricio Pochettino would likely relish working with. The major English papers are yet to pick the story up, so only time will tell if this one has legs.
