Pep Guardiola has claimed Manchester City do not want to sign Dele Alli this summer.

Earlier this month, reports suggested Guardiola was considering raiding Tottenham for Alli as well as Danny Rose and Kyle Walker.

Those rumours intensified when The Sun published quotes from former Barcelona midfield Xavi, who claimed Guardiola is a big fan of Alli. Xavi, however, denies ever talking to the newspaper.

The Manchester City manager held his pre-derby press conference yesterday, where he revealed he, perhaps surprisingly, does not want to buy Alli this summer.

“Mauricio Pochettino has to stay calm,” said the Spaniard. “Dele Alli will be his player next season. I am pretty sure about that. We don’t want him.”

As relayed by journalist Sam Lee on Twitter, Guardiola added that the 21-year-old is “one of the most fantastic players I have seen in my life,” but “Man City doesn’t want Dele Alli.”

It seems Spurs fans can rest easy for now. Even if Manchester City do hold an interest, it would take a lot of money to force Daniel Levy into selling to a Premier League rival.
