West Brom are considering a summer move for Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen, according to the Sunday People.
The story, relayed by The Birmingham Mail, suggests Tony Pulis is keen to test Spurs’ resolve after Janssen’s difficult first season in England.
The Dutchman has scored just twice in 24 Premier League appearances since arriving from AZ Alkmaar for around £18 million last summer.
In fairness, most of those outings have been from the bench, usually late in games, and Janssen has had to battle Tottenham talisman Harry Kane for a starting place.
Spurs fans have been mostly unimpressed with what they have seen of the 22-year-old, who has looked short of quality despite a couple of classy moments — his back-heeled assist against Swansea, for instance.
West Brom and Tottenham haven’t exactly seen eye to eye ever since the Saido Berahino saga. But a deal to take Nacer Chadli to the Hawthorns was struck last summer, so we know the clubs are at least on speaking terms.
Some will be keen to see Janssen given another season at Spurs, while others will be content to see him depart. We’ll have to wait and see how this one pans out.
Bullocks absolute bullocks!!
Spurs fans love him.
Give him another go next season.I am sure he has loads of goals in him and will prove his worth.
He has said he is happy at Spurs and he is still a young player
I’m sure he will be a fantastic squad player!!!
Nice comment baz. Supporters who watch football and have played the game understand not the stats he keeps getting poked at him. Look at he’s minutes on the pitch would you swap him for rondon at wba. Exactly!!
Love to see a trier n he certainly does that and he’s learning and wants to stay. Another season to settle. Come on you spurs n Vincent
I think he is a top striker as a back up for Harry Kane and gives us a different option. He has come from a rubbish league into the best league in the world so he needs time to adapt and he has time on his side as he is only 22
