Tottenham are interested in signing Nice midfielder Jean Michaël Seri this summer, according to The Guardian.

The report suggests both Spurs and Arsenal have held discussions for the 25-year-old who has impressed in Nice’s push for the Ligue 1 title this season.

Third place Nice beat second place Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 at the weekend, which led to the French press linking Seri with a move to PSG after his fine individual display.

The Guardian mention the fact Marco Veratti could leave PSG for Juventus this summer, meaning there will be gap to be filled in central midfield for Unai Emery’s side.

Barcelona are also thought to be interested in Seri, so Tottenham and Arsenal are likely to have a difficult time convincing the Ivory Coast international to move to England.

He certainly isn’t out of Tottenham’s price range, however. Seri has a release clause of £33 million, but Nice would be willing to let him go for just £20 million.

Spurs already have a number of capable central midfielders — including Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier — but another wouldn’t hurt if the Londoners are to challenge for major honours in the near future.
