Tottenham are confident Toby Alderweireld and Victor Wanyama will sign new contracts soon, according to The Mirror.

Alderweireld’s future has been heavily debated in the English press, with reports suggesting he is unwilling to commit his future to Spurs unless he is made one of the club’s top earners.

There has also been talk of the Belgian insisting a release clause is included in any new deal. He has been linked with a move to Inter Milan if his future with Tottenham isn’t sorted this summer.

But in a story about Manchester United’s interest in Eric Dier, journalist James Nursey claims Spurs “remain confident” Alderweireld and Wanyama “will be rewarded for outstanding seasons this summer.”

To be clear, Wanyama has not been linked with a transfer. The midfielder only joined Tottenham last summer and has already become a vital part of the team.

Alderweireld’s future is a little more hazy, but if an agreement between the club and the player can be reached then there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

  1. Toby A. is one of our very top players & should be paid so. A £50 million + release clause would be appropriate. Victor W. has been a colossus & deserves better terms. Great weekend for us despite the poor defeat v WHU & our fantastic winning run ending. Saints draw with Liverpool & the Arsenil beating Utd guarantees us 3rd place minimum. Defo Champions League. COYS!!!

  2. Why doesn’t Levy stop playing games and just pay all his top players top money. This brinkmanship just upsets the team which by all accounts were happy. Don’t forget to replace top costs a great deal of money and then they may not fit in. Sissoko is a very good example top money to buy given top wages and not good enough to play for Spurs.
I’m sure Mr Pochetino must mad with his boss. I just hope he stays but I wouldn’t blame him if he packed his bags. For, nobody would want to work with a boss like Levy.
