Tottenham are considering a move for Ajax defender Joel Veltman, according to The London Evening Standard.
The 25-year-old, who reached the Europa League final with Ajax last month, can play at centre-back or right-back and is apparently available for just £8 million due to his contract being up at the end of next season.
Earlier this week reports suggested Spurs were keen on Borussia Dortmund’s Matthias Ginter, but it appears they have found a cheaper alternative in Veltman.
The Dutchman will become the fourth former Ajax player to join Tottenham if he does arrive. Spurs signed Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen from the Eredivise side, while Toby Alderweireld played for Ajax before signing for Atletico Madrid.
Tottenham are keen on refreshing their back-line with Kyle Walker expected to join Manchester City in the coming weeks.
Veltman, or an alternative signing, will be expected to challenge Kieran Trippier for the right-back spot and fill in at centre-back when necessary.
