Tottenham have made contact with Nice over the potential signing of Jean-Michael Seri, according to The Daily Mail and reports in France.

The midfielder is believed to be attracting interest from Roma, Arsenal and Barcelona after impressing in Ligue 1 last season.

Roma apparently had a £20 million bid for Seri rejected last week. It seems Nice will only let the 25-year-old leave if his £35 million release clause is met.

Spurs would have to break their record transfer fee of £30 million if they were to sign Seri. The Daily mail claims the club has made initial enquiries but there have been no further developments.

That story is backed up by the chief football editor of RMC Sport in France, Mohamed Bouhafsi, who gave an update on the situation on Twitter.

I don’t think Tottenham are really in a position to be spending that kind of money on a central midfielder, particularly with the depth they already have there.

Mauricio Pochettino rarely drops Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier, while Mousa Dembele and Harry Winks were both impressive last season. Josh Onomah is also set to feature in more games next season after playing a starring role for England at the Under-20 World Cup.

  1. Kane & Rose both proved me wrong. I didnt rate them initially. But i will be amazed if Onomah does. Not up to required quality
