Sassuolo are hopeful star striker Domenico Berardi will reject a move to Tottenham this summer, according to reports.

Both talkSPORT and The Independent claim Spurs are interested in the Italian, but Suassuolo’s director general, Giovanni Carnevali, hopes Berardi will stay.

He told Premium Sport: “We hope Berardi can make the same choice as last season. That means staying at Sassuolo. We’d love him to become our symbol, it would be nice to continue with him.

“Last year we received so many offers, this year there are even more. We hope he will stay, but there are other players in Serie A. Whoever wants to stay has to be wedded to the Sassuolo project, so it’s up to him.”

At the age of 20, Berardi became the youngest player score 30 goals in Serie A since 1958. Now 22, the striker is being linked with a move away from Italy, but there is also believed to be interest from Juventus.
