Tottenham are interested in signing Southampton defender Cedric Soares this summer, according to The Mirror.
Southampton signed Soares two years ago from Sporting Lisbon for just £4.7 million. The right-back, who won Euro 2016 with Portugal last summer, signed a new four-year contract with the Saints last August.
The 25-year-old could be offered yet another new deal this summer — Tottenham would be wise to act before that happens.
Kyle Walker is expected to leave for Manchester City in the coming weeks, so Spurs will be in need of a replacement and Soares fits the bill.
Walker has been linked with a move to the Etihad for the last couple of months following a reported row with manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Tottenham manager is believed to have concerns over Walker’s fitness and ability to play more than one match a week, something the 27-year-old strongly disagrees with.
Walker lost his place in the starting line-up to Kieran Trippier in big games towards the end of the season, making an exit seem inevitable. Spurs value Walker at around £50 million.
