Tottenham have pulled out of the fight to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, according to multiple reports.
The Mirror and Sky Sports both claim Spurs are refusing to be drawn into an auction for Lemar, giving Arsenal a clear run at the 21-year-old.
However, The Independent suggests Monaco have told both Tottenham and Arsenal that Lemar is not for sale and won’t be leaving this summer.
Arsenal had a £31 million bid for the Frenchman rejected earlier this week. Spurs would have to break their record transfer fee to better that offer. As a result, they have ended their interest in the winger.
The Gunners, on the other hand, are expected to go back in with an improved bid for Lemar. They might not have Champions League football, but Arsenal appear to have bigger funds that Tottenham this summer.
Pochettino is believed to be a fan of the player, and Spurs were favourites to sign him at one point. The club is now likely to begin pursuing alternative targets.
