Tottenham are interested in signing Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, according to The Sun.
Leicester City were expected to complete a £20 million deal for Iheanacho this week, but Spurs’ interest could put a spanner in the works.
Manchester City still hope to sign Kyle Walker in the coming weeks, and Iheanacho’s involvement could speed up that transfer.
Apparently Spurs hope to sign the 20-year-old as part of a player-plus cash deal that would see Walker go the other way.
Conceivably, that means Tottenham would receive £30 million plus Iheanacho for Walker.
Iheanacho stuggled for game time last season with both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus ahead of him in the Manchester City pecking order.
The Nigerian scored 14 goals in the 2015/16 campaign, including an equaliser in the 2-1 defeat to Spurs at the Etihad.
Iheanacho represents the kind of striker Tottenham need. He’s different enough to Harry Kane to provide both competition and cover, and there’s maybe even potential for a partnership.
