Tottenham are set to meet with Sporting Lisbon directors in an attempt to thrash out a deal for midfielder Adrien Silva, according to The Sun.

The story also claims Mauricio Pochettino will meet Silva’s agent to work on a deal for the player.

Sporting have slapped a £26.5 million price-tag on their captain and are refusing to let him go for anything less than that figure.

The Portugal international came close to joining Leicester City last summer but the deal fell through at the last minute. He is also believed to be attracting interest from Everton.

Silva has three years left on his current contract with Sporting, which includes a €45 million release clause. They are willing to let him leave for far less, but £26.5 million still represents a big fee for a 28-year-old.

It’s particularly difficult to see Daniel Levy spending such a large amount on a player entering his latter years as a footballer. Any deal might depend on Pochettino’s insistence for it to happen.

  1. As much as Silva will be a great addition to our squad my main worry is that Levy will sell again. It would be nice if it was just Sissoko and Lamela. I would just hope that Pochetino has a big say in who stays and who may come into the Squad. As usual we will just watch from the sidelines as Levy deals his business.

  2. K.Walker’s sale was a an excellent deal. Last season his final ball was crap, & his constant loss of possession & getting caught on the counter had cost Spurs too often.I would like them to sell Sissoko, Jansen, N’Koudou, & buy J.King, D.Grey and a defender. It’s all guessing, ifs and buts anyway.

  3. Do we need a replacement at right wing back considering the potential of Kyle Walker Peters ?
Not sure if he is first team ready but his path should not be blocked as he is potentially better than past and present full backs. Would like to see more of Edwards , Onomah and Winks next season
Eriksen could do with a hand in the creative department and the money should be spent on creativity and firepower . With Barkley way over priced , perhaps Lemar from Monaco ? Tie down Toby to an extention and sign a game changer who can challenge at the business end. Coys

  4. Lads we are all Spurs fans I hope!!!!! But are we so nieve to believe levy and enic want nothing more than financial gain. We have to sell to buy!???? What kind of top four side are we!??? Everton are spending 100+ million. We can’t get a back up for can that can score 15+ plus which would cost 20mill!! Am I the only one who can see through our board. Come on chaps I love the club, supporter all my life and normally don’t diss the Spurs. But after a second placed finish last season we needed to go all out and but strength and power to see if this was our year. But again that won’t happen as we’re left behind. Fact. Coys

  5. We need to buy a young winger to replace sissoko as how much money we put into buying the flop. We need a decent back up striker after we have brought soldado and Jansen we need a striker. COYS
