Arsenal are monitoring the situation of Tottenham target Ross Barkley, according to The London Evening Standard.

Barkley is expected to leave Everton this summer after refusing to sign a new deal with the Merseysiders at the end of last season.

Spurs have been favourites to sign him for the last few weeks, but the Standard claims Arsenal are keeping an eye on the situation. Manchester United are also rumoured to be interested.

The report suggests Everton could end up selling Barkley for around £25 million despite the £50 million price tag that has been heavily reported in the press.

The midfielder is believed to be keen on a move to Tottenham after hearing a number of glowing reports about manager Mauricio Pochettino.

But there’s a good chance Arsenal and Manchester United could offer Barkley a better salary than Spurs.

The 26-year-old is currently recovering from groin surgery and is expected to miss the start of the new season.

  1. I don’t know if he will think that way – you do remember that there were SEVEN spuds players in the England 11 when we got beat by a nation named after a supermarket?!

  2. Buying Barkley would be a waste of money. Tottenham need to look at Strikers and Centre backs if they want to consolidate. Buy Kovacic and put in an offer for Troy Deeney that Watford cannot pull away from say £20mill. and buy that Porto defender Perreira
