Jose Mourinho has all but admitted defeat in his bid to sign Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Dier for a number of weeks now. They have reportedly had two bids turned down, valued at £25 million and £40 million respectively.

Speaking to reporters in the USA (in quotes published by the MEN), Mourinho has suggested Spurs won’t sell anyone they want to keep, including Dier.

“They [Tottenham] keep everybody they want to keep,” he said. “They keep Dele Alli, Kane and Alderweireld, they keep Eric Dier, they keep everyone they want to keep.

“They sold Kyle Walker I think because they wanted to sell. And probably because they think Trippier is as good as Walker. And he’s younger than Walker. They keep everyone they want to keep.”

It is believed Dier is interested in a move to Old Trafford, but Spurs are completely unwilling to sell.

Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of the 23-year-old as he is versatile and allows Tottenham to change systems mid-game.

  1. Why the ‘fallen one’ has to keep mentioning his pursuit of Dier in the press, in an attempt to turn Eric’s head is pretty poor. But what do you expect from Mourinho.

    • You are absolutely right, Mourinho is expert manipulator, selfish, arrogance. If I was a player I would keep myself away from him
