Tottenham have been outbid by Ligue 1 club Lyon for Celta Vigo midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop, according to The Daily Mail.
But the 20-year-old is believed to be keen on a move to London rather than France.
The Mail claims Spurs made an offer of around £9 million last week, but Celta Vigo insist they must increase their bid.
Lyon have apparently made a larger offer to both Celta Vigo and Diop himself.
I assume Diop would be more of a signing for the future rather than an immediate fix given the strength Tottenham already possess in central midfield.
The Spanish youth international made his La Liga debut in January last year.
