Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen has played down reports linking him to Barcelona.
Corners of the media have touted Eriksen as a potential alternative to Philippe Coutinho if that deal doesn’t go through.
The Dane told BBC 5 Live (in quotes published by The Express) the link is simply a rumour.
He said: “It’s nothing. Ever since I’ve played football and been scouted the first few times I’ve been linked away, to every corner of the world.
“They’re a great club of course and it means you’re doing a good thing [to get noticed] and it means you need to keep going until you see or hear something.
“Until then it’s just rumours so it’s nothing to comment about really.”
Eriksen was instrumental in Spurs’ 2-0 victory at Newcastle last weekend, and the supporters will be happy to hear he’s staying put.

To be fair, this doesn’t suggest he is ‘staying put’ .. he just said there’s nothing to discuss because they are just rumours. If an concrete offer came in things would be different.
To be honest, the guy is just being realistic.
He may as well have just said, come and get me when you want me.
Christian is a good guy, and just being polite really.
Barca ain’t what the used to be, and Spurs are quite successful with a good team around him.
Don’t see him wandering off to Barca. Athletico would be a better match, but Christian is a loyal guy, and thriving in England.
He’s be playing for Spurs at least another year.
