Andre Villas-Boas turned down the chance to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during his time as Tottenham manager, according to journalist Graham Hunter.
Hunter was speaking on his podcast, The Big Interview, when he revealed Villas-Boas opted against bringing Aubameyang to Spurs despite a number of recommendations.
The striker went on to become one of Europe’s most prolific goal scorers for Borussia Dortmund. In 46 appearances in all competitions last season, Aubameyang scored 40 goals.
Hunter said: “For Daniel Levy it’s still a massive thorn in his side.”
Tottenham will host Dortmund and Aubameyang in the first Champions League group stage match later this month — you already know what’s going to happen, don’t you?
