The centre-back, who arrived for a record fee from Ajax last month, will feature in a back three with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
Deadline day signings Serge Aurier and Fernando Llorente are on the bench, as is Mousa Dembele. The Belgian is replaced in central midfield by Moussa Sissoko.
There is no room in the squad for summer signings Paul Gazzaniga and Juan Foyth.
Kyle Walker-Peters and Heung-Min Son are also among the substitutes.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to all the team news.

Starting Sissoko over Winks is interesting/mental.

I wonder if we as fans supported Sissoko when Poch plays him if he might just feel more confident #justsayin

Sissoko nets the winner today, you heard it here first

Given how well Sissoko played last week, not at all surprised he’s starting. Would also prefer him against Everton than against BVB.
