Christian Eriksen will miss Tottenham’s Champions League trip to APOEL Nicosia through illness.

Mauricio Pochettino revealed the news as Spurs jetted off to Cyprus without Eriksen.

The Tottenham manager said: “He [Eriksen] had a very bad night and he is sick. He is not ready for tomorrow. He stays in London.”

Eriksen joins a number of notable first team squad members who will miss the trip, including Mousa Dembele (ankle), Victor Wanyama (knee), Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli (both suspended).

It will be interesting to see how Spurs line up against APOEL given the amount of absentees.
