Mauricio Pochettino has revealed Mousa Dembele has not recovered from an ankle injury in time to play against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The Belgian midfielder suffered the injury in the 1-0 EFL Cup win over Barnsley earlier this month.
In his pre-Huddersfield press conference, Pochettino admitted he does not know how long Dembele will be out for.
“It’s sure for Saturday it’s impossible for him to play,” said the Spurs boss. “I haven’t seen him today [Thursday] because he’s not here. We hope it won’t be a big problem but I think he needs time to recover.”
Asked if Dembele could be out for a while, Pochettino said: “I don’t know. We need more information, to speak with the doctor and then see what happens in the next few weeks.”
